Similarly as there is with audio for film, animation movies more-so consist with regard to their audio content, primarily rely on sound added in post which is designed and created through the methods of foley and sound design. Within this project I will set out to cover all of these roles in my own production.

Within the clip itself there are a number of aspects which I will have to cover to ensure a coherent sound accompaniment to this video is produced. Being primarily inside a prison setting indoors, there will be timbre qualities of this which I will aim to reproduce.

Within the world of music production and performance the available technology of the time has certainly had an impact on the process of creating music with new functionality, utility and sound available for use through new hardware and software. This has transformed the production process from the way music was made 50 years ago.

During this trimester in the audio industries module I have created a mix of the recording project which I worked on in the recording techniques module parallel to this one. This involved operation of the Tascam mixing console to create the mix, with use of the external audio effects utilized to archive various audio processing effects such as NYK style compression and long-tail effect reverb and delay based similarly on the original track.

An innovative, eccentric and influential music producer from Kingston, Jamaica, Scratch is regarded as a legend in early reggae and along with his music studio, The Black Ark, was considered “formative in creating the highly innovative reggae subgenre called dub” - Paul Douglas, drummer of Toots and the Maytals.

In our last seminar for principles of audio we covered key signatures, which included the differences between major / minor scales and how to convert between, as well as why the tonal harmonies occur in scales due to the intervals within them.

During our modules we have touched on loudspeakers and their role in audio production as both a piece of monitoring equipment and in live sound setups. Loudspeakers consist of the cabinet unit (enclosure) which is the main housing to the cone which is also known technically as the driver / transducer being the component to convert electrical energy containing the audio signal, into acoustic (kinetic) energy for listening.

In a recent session we focussed on arrangement, and how it is an important aspect of creating a composition that keeps the attention of the listener, and helps create a interesting and coherent piece that still changes in it’s melodic sections throughout.

The genre of House music originated from the underground club scene of Chicago in the 1980s, more specifically from one club in particular from where it drew its name - Warehouse. Opened in 1977 it is credited as the birthplace of the genre, run by the highly regarded director and DJ Frankie Knuckles, it was a hotspot for those out of the Disco craze who were after the next big club sound.
